Cupping + Gua Sha

Treatment time: 30 minutes

Cupping is considered a reverse deep tissue massage. Instead of pressing down on the skin, cups are placed along acupuncture meridians to create a suction to lift the skin, muscles and connective tissue upwards. The cups are applied to the skin for seconds to a few minutes. This technique will help reduce pain, inflammation, increase blood flow and aid in relaxation and well being. This modality can be its own treatment or used in conjunction with gua sha or acupuncture treatments.

Gua Sha is a technique used in treatments to enhance circulation and break up tension and constraint within the body. Using a smooth-edged tool, it is gently scraped across the body to break up superficial tension to provide increased blood flow. This therapy can be used alone, or incorporated into cupping and acupuncture treatments.

Marks on the skin after a treatment are normal, these are NOT bruises. These marks actually indicate a lack of blood flow, toxins within the body, lack of energetic flow or heat and inflammation. You may notice, even though you were cupped in multiple areas of the body, only a few spots may have marks. After treatment, it is normal to feel relaxed and fatigued, and may experience soreness for 24-48 hours. It is important that you hydrate!! Give your body extra fluids as it has worked hard to shift the dynamic of your current health.
